Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another service may receive it. By using Whitley County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Whitley County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained so a response can be prepared. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the servers may receive routine technical information about that visit:

  • Page-view times and time spent on visited pages
  • The referring site, when one is reported
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how visitors move through the site. Analytics providers combine that traffic information to show popular pages and common exit points. A browser can be set to reject cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Finding and repairing performance or technical problems
  • Operating the site and improving page speed
  • Routing a search query to the selected outside provider
  • Measuring which reference pages visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Whitley County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to reach the Whitley Circuit Court Clerk, local law-enforcement custodians, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal dossier, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern information submitted through those tools. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, so review those terms before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Kentucky Court of Justice, KSP, Whitley County offices, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows such a link, the destination's privacy terms control. Review them before supplying personal information.

Advertising services may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Search providers that process a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
  • A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and this policy cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.

Your Data Rights

Rights may vary with a visitor's location and applicable law. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs public-agency records rather than this private site's files, while KRS 17.580 governs public dissemination from the state registry. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:

  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Ask what personal information is held
  • Seek deletion where the law permits it
  • Opt out of eligible forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. The updated wording and effective date will appear here when a revision takes effect.
